My printmaking is characterized by two independent approaches: free associative images stand in strong contrast to precisely elaborated etchings for which I have been employing cartographic material since 2012. On the basis of existing maps of various origins I try to get and also give an idea of the world today. During the working process familiar details of maps (e.g. street names) are initially erased so that shape and structure become the primary means of expression. Alternatively, conventional elements of maps are replaced by text passages, symbols or acronyms which refer to current affairs or contemporary history. Apart from these meticulously cut etchings I also work on monotypes, lithographs or material prints. They provide a testing ground for experiments in search of new forms as much as they help to avoid routine.
